1. What data do we collect?
We collect the following data:
- Account data: name, email address, profile photo
- Check-in data: whiskies you taste, ratings, notes
- Taste profile: your preferences from the taste quiz
- Collection: whiskies in your collection
- Marketplace: listings and transaction history
2. What do we use your data for?
- To give you personal whisky recommendations
- To track your check-ins and collection
- To facilitate the marketplace
- To improve the app
- To inform you about relevant events
3. Sharing data
We never sell your data to third parties. These services process data for us:
- Clerk: for authentication
- Supabase: for database storage
- Vercel: for hosting
- Stripe: for payments through DramAtlas (the marketplace and event tickets) and payouts to sellers
- Sentry: to track down errors, with technical details about the error and the page or request where it happened
- Push services from Google, Mozilla, Microsoft and Apple: only if you turn on push notifications. The push service of your browser or phone delivers the notification: Google for Chrome, Mozilla for Firefox, Microsoft for Edge and Apple for Safari and the iPhone. The content is encrypted; the service sees your device's push address, the time and the size, but not what the notification says.
AI services
Some features use AI from an outside provider. Whatever such a feature needs is sent to that provider. Below, per provider, is what that is and what it is for.
- Anthropic (Claude): our main AI provider. Anthropic stores data in the United States; the processing itself may also take place in another country. Anthropic keeps what it receives and sends back for no more than 30 days, unless the law requires longer or it is needed to counter misuse (then up to 2 years). Anthropic does not train AI models on it. Anthropic receives:
- photos you take or pick for a check-in or a moment, also when there is no bottle on them (Anthropic checks whether a bottle is visible, reads the label and may describe the bottle for a studio photo), photos in your collection, to see whether the photo can serve as a catalog photo, and photos in a listing, to recognize the bottle and for the authenticity check
- the name and label details of the whisky, to come up with a background for a studio photo
- your tasting notes, when you ask for a summary or have them analyzed in the TasteLab
- public tasting notes and scores from check-ins, without usernames, for the summary on a whisky page
- your questions to the guide on a distillery page
- your taste profile, including the flavors counted from your check-ins and what you filled in earlier on the flavor wheel on a whisky page, for food pairing suggestions in the TasteLab
- the whisky and what xAI found about it on the web, for a valuation or value estimate
- the whisky and its condition, when you have a sales text written
- the content of a text file you upload to import your collection, including the prices and anything else in it (we read CSV and Excel files ourselves; those do not go to an AI service)
- the names of your groups, how many group posts and event sign-ups you have, the badges and milestones you earned, and what you enter yourself when the AI comes up with a guild for you, for badges, summaries and guilds in the community
- xAI (Grok): the backup provider; xAI also makes the studio photos and searches the web for a valuation. xAI receives:
- when Anthropic returns an error or no usable answer, or cannot be reached, the same data for the same features
- photos you pick for a check-in or a moment, also when there is no bottle on them, to make a studio photo, and for every studio photo the name and label details of the whisky, for the background
- the name, distillery, age and alcohol percentage of the whisky, to search the web for a valuation
- OpenAI: second backup provider and check for inappropriate content. OpenAI receives:
- when Anthropic gives no usable answer and neither does xAI after it, the same data for the same features, except for the valuation, the collection import, the summary on a whisky page and the background for a studio photo
- the text of every check-in note, every comment on a check-in or group post, every group post and every private message, including messages about a listing, for an automatic check for inappropriate content
- your taste preferences and the flavor tags from your check-ins, for recommendations and the taste match in your feed
- a search term that finds nothing in the catalog itself, to keep searching by meaning
- names, descriptions and popular posts of public groups, for the Discover page
- Replicate and remove.bg: may receive a photo from your check-in, moment, collection or listing to remove the background for a studio photo, also when there is no bottle on it.
Photos reach these services without EXIF data: the app removes the GPS location and your device details before a photo is sent.
This data is not anonymized. Whatever you put in a note, question, message or file reaches the provider unchanged.
4. Your rights (GDPR)
You have the right to:
- View your data
- Have your data corrected
- Have your data deleted
- Export your data
- Object to processing
Go to Settings â Privacy to export or delete your data.
5. Cookies
We only use functional cookies necessary for the app to work, such as authentication and your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies.
6. Security
We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption and secure connections (HTTPS).
