Lochranza Distillery op het eiland Arran werd opgericht door Harold Currie, voormalig directeur van Chivas, die in 1994 begon te bouwen; het eerste spirit vloeide op 29 juni 1995. Daarmee keerde na ruim 150 jaar de legale whiskystokerij terug op Arran (de laatste legale stokerij, Lagg, sloot in 1837). De locatie in Lochranza werd gekozen vanwege het zeer zuivere water, en het bezoekerscentrum werd in 1997 officieel geopend door koningin Elizabeth II. De stokerij, eigendom van Isle of Arran Distillers, hanteert een filosofie van kwaliteit boven kwantiteit en produceert een frisse, fruitige, licht maritieme single malt in Highland-stijl (met de geturfde Machrie Moor-bottelingen); sinds de opening van zusterstokerij Lagg in 2019 spreekt men van 'Lochranza' en 'Lagg'.
