The Speyside Distillery werd opgericht door zakenman George Christie, die het terrein bij Tromie Mills (Drumguish, nabij Kingussie) al in 1962 kocht en samen met steenhouwer Alex Fairlie tot 1987 verbouwde tot een distilleerderij; de distillatie begon op 12 december 1990. De distilleerderij staat bekend om enkele van de kleinste koperen pot stills van Schotland, wat Christie's voorkeur voor ambachtelijke kleinschalige productie weerspiegelt. Later in handen van Harvey's of Edinburgh, brengt ze single malts uit onder de merken Drumguish (eerste bottling in 1993) en SPEY, in de klassieke Speyside-stijl: zacht, fruitig en toegankelijk. De distilleerderij sloot in 2025 na het aflopen van de pacht.
